The AUG’s gearbox sits behind the trigger, in the stock. That packs a full-length barrel into a much shorter overall package than an M4 with the same barrel — which is exactly what you want in CQB and indoor fields, where a long rifle snags on every doorway and corner. You get the muzzle velocity of the long barrel without the length that gets you tagged swinging around a wall. The trade-off is the magazine sits behind your trigger hand, so reloads feel different at first — a couple of games and it’s muscle memory. For tight fields and fast movement, the bullpup layout is a genuine edge, not just a look.
