RedSpear Combat Metrics: the free gel blaster game-day app
Quick Answer: RedSpear Combat Metrics is a free app for Queensland gel blaster players. Log each round after you play, see your K/D by field without CQB and MilSim numbers getting mixed together, tick off your kit before game day, and keep it all on your phone even when the field has no signal. Sign up below and you get 15% off SummerCat gels as well.
Most players either keep a rough tally in their head or never track anything. Combat Metrics sits in the middle: quick enough to fill in between rounds, honest enough that it won’t tell you that you’re “improving” just because you played indoors this week. It is built by RedSpear, it runs on iPhone and Android, and it costs nothing.
What it does
Log a round in seconds
Field, kills, deaths, done. Add role, weather, game type, tags and notes if you want the detail. Fix any round later if you got a number wrong.
Stats that compare like with like
Indoor CQB, outdoor skirmish and MilSim are kept in separate buckets. Your Blacksite numbers are never ranked against your Donnybrook numbers on the same scale.
Session debrief and game day history
Close a session and see how the day went against your own baseline. Every past game day stays browsable, round by round.
Event checklist built in
Indoor, one-day outdoor or multi-day MilSim. Same list as the RedSpear MilSim Checklist PDF, tickable on your phone the night before.
Works with no signal
Rounds save to your phone first. When you get back to reception they sync to your account in the background. One bar at Donnybrook is not a problem.
Your data stays yours
No ads, nothing sold, nothing shared. Your stats live under your own account and you can export or delete them any time.
🟣 Why the app refuses to compare CQB with MilSim
A 3.0 K/D at an indoor CQB field and a 1.2 K/D at a MilSim weekend are not a slump. They are two different games: engagement distances, round lengths, respawn rules and the number of people shooting at you are all different. Most trackers pool everything into one number and then congratulate you when you happen to play indoors for a month. Combat Metrics buckets every round by context first and only ever measures you against your own history in that same context. It is slower to show a “trend”, and it is honest about sample size (three rounds is a hint, ten is data), which is the point.
How to get it on your phone
There is nothing to download from an app store. It installs straight from the browser and then behaves like a normal app with its own icon.
iPhone
Open redspear-combat-metrics.web.app in Safari. Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. Create your account from the icon, not from Safari, so your data lives in the app.
Android
Open the same link in Chrome. Tap the three-dot menu, then Add to Home screen (some phones say Install app). Same rule: set up your account from the icon.
You will be asked for an email address and to verify it. That is your account: it is what lets your rounds sync and lets you recover them if you change phones. It is not a mailing list. The mailing list is the box below, and it is optional.
15% off SummerCat gels
Put your email in below and the code arrives in your inbox. It is good on gel balls, the sorter and the rest of the SummerCat range. It does not apply to used marketplace listings, because those belong to private sellers and RedSpear only takes a small fee on them. You will only hear from us when something actually matters: a new app feature, a big event, or a rule change that affects Queensland players.
Questions people ask
Is it really free?
Yes. No subscription, no paid tier, no ads. RedSpear built it for the Queensland gel blaster community and it stays free.
Do I have to track kills and deaths?
No. Plenty of players use it for the event checklist, the game day history and the field notes and leave the score at zero. Track what you care about.
Which fields are in it?
Blacksite, Donnybrook, Danger Close, GelCity and SpecOps come pre-loaded. Any other field takes ten seconds to add, indoor or outdoor, and you can archive fields you no longer play.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Settings has a CSV export of every round and a full JSON backup. You can also delete your account and everything with it from inside the app.
Something is broken or missing
Use the Report Bug / Suggest Feature link inside the app (Hub tab) or the feedback form. Include the version number from Settings → Help & Feedback.
